APPLIED ART SCIENCE:
MATERIALS AND TECHNIQUES
CONTINUING EDUCATION COURSE AT THE SWISS INSTITUTE FOR ART RESEARCH
IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE ZURICH UNIVERSITY OF THE ARTS
The Swiss Institute for Art Research (SIK-ISEA), together with the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK), offers the continuing education course ‘Applied Art Science – Materials and Techniques’, which may be completed as a Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS). Over 30 teaching days, participants gain in-depth knowledge of the materials and methods employed in both fine and applied arts – from painting and sculpture to video art, and from textiles and ceramics to plastics. Hands-on study of original objects is complemented by practical modules on inventory management, archiving, handling and photographic documentation of works. Moreover, the curriculum addresses essential issues in art law, museum ethics and the art market – making this course a comprehensive, interdisciplinary training for professionals in the art world.
Most sessions take place within specialised partner institutions, fostering direct contact with leading experts. Koller Auctions is proud to serve as the partner for the CAS module on auctioneering.
