LARGE BOULLE CLOCK with plinth,Regence, the dial signed BEECKAERT A PARIS (Jean-Francois Beeckaert, maitre 1746), Paris circa 1720/30. Brown tortoiseshell exceptionally finely inlaid with brass fillets in "premiere partie". The case glazed on three sides and with inlaid interior. Rich, relief-decorated bronze dial with 24 enamel cartouches. Verge escapement with 4/4 striking on 2 bells. Exceptionally fine, matte and polished gilt bronze mounts and applications. 58x20x142 cm. Provenance: from a highly important European private collection.
Provenienz: Aus einer hochbedeutenden europäischen Privatsammlung. Jean-François Beeckaert wurde 1746 zum Meister ernannt. Sein Atelier befand sich in der Rue du Petit Bourbon, später in der Rue de Bucy. Ende der 1770er Jahre wurde es von seiner Witwe in der Rue Coutellerie bis 1783 weitergeführt. Lit.: H.L.
