ARMORIAL PANEL ST. GALLEN

Switzerland, dated 1595. monogrammed CM (Christoph Murer 1558-1614).
The coat of arms of the City of St. Gallen and the City of Zurich (replaced later), with the crowned Imperial Eagle flanked by two banner bearers. On top, depictions from the life of Mucius Scaevola. The bottom corners with two putti beating drums, and inscribed 'Die Statt Sanct Gallen 1595'. Framed.
42 × 32 cm, with frame 46 × 36.5 cm.

Cracks and repairs to the lead. Reworked.

Provenance:
- Art dealer Otto Büel, Lucerne.
- By inheritance into the present private collection.
