IVORY LIDDED TANKARD,

probably Hanau, 19th century.
The vessel part made of carved ivory with a mythological depiction of peacocks, putti and the Graces. The handle also of ivory and designed as two putti facing one another. The decoration of the cover corresponds to that of the foot, and is crowned by a seated putto and grape–vines. Bottom of the tankard marked. Minor losses and repairs. H ca. 26 cm.
