EDITORIAL
DEAR READER,
Our autumn auctions feature Modern and Contemporary Art, Jewellery and Watches, and Asian Art. In addition to the works presented on the following pages, more than 2 000 paintings, prints, objets d’art and jewellery will be offered between 25 November and 5 December – both in our saleroom and in dedicated online-only auctions. All catalogues are available online.

‘The art market remains healthy, with demand as strong and consistent as ever’.
The results of our recent sales – such as the painting by Paul Signac that realised 6.2 million francs, or Domenico Gnoli’s 1968 ‘Zip’, which changed hands for 3 million francs – show that the art market remains healthy, with demand as strong and consistent as ever. Naturally, tastes have evolved over the years. Today, younger collectors are increasingly drawn to Classical Modernism, Post-War Art and Design. Yet outstanding works from earlier centuries continue to achieve remarkable prices – such as the 1.7 million francs realised for a 19th-century seascape by Ivan Aivazovsky in our September auction, or the 620 000 francs for a 3500-year-old Cycladic idol last March.
On our website, you can find not only the catalogues for upcoming auctions but also the results of previous sales, together with detailed information about our departments and locations. The growth we have seen in recent years reflects the increasingly international nature of our clientele. Many consignments now come to us from abroad, and more than 60 percent of our buyers are international.
We are already receiving consignments for next year’s auctions. If you are considering selling works of art from your collection, we would be delighted to provide you with a complimentary, non-binding valuation.
With warm regards,
Cyril Koller
