A PAIR OF WEDDING KNIVES
Probably Dutch or Northern German, ca. 1600.
Edged ivory handle florally engraved with arabesques and inlaid with colored horn and amber in the form of stylized flowers and leaves. The end of the handle slightly offset and with a gilt spherical pommel. Long, conical blade bolster with engraved scroll decoration and remnants of gilding. Blade with center tip. Smith's mark.
L 19.5 cm.
Spherical pommel with dents, amber inlays with defects and chips, cracks in the ivory. Blades with traces of corrosion.
