Slightly trapezoidal body on a cut-out frame and slightly curved legs and sabots. Front with two sans-traverse drawers. Bronze mounts. “Brèche Rouge du Languedoc” marble top. 2 keys.
79 × 44 × 83 cm.

Provenance:
Martine et Gérard Bareyre Antiquaires, Agen, France, April 26, 1995.
Private collection Monaco, acquired from the above gallery.

Restorations and supplements, somewhat faded.

Inlay work in the form of vases and flowers as well as musical attributes are recurring motifs in Caumont's furniture, which he preferred to use in combination with colorful fruitwoods. The decorative motifs were always hot-sand shaded, and refined with mother-of-pearl or ivory inlays, as seen in the item on offer.
