REGULATOR WITH SECOND, ANNUAL CALENDAR AND “EQUATION DU TEMPS”
Paris, last quarter of the 19th century. The dial and movement signed Le Roy & Fils Pal(ai)s. R(oy)al. Cie. Montpensier 13-15 Paris and numbered 4821 and 6356.
White marble and gilt brass. Rectangular case, glazed on all sides, on a flared, profiled base with console feet. The fronton is finely engraved with leafy vines, and contains two large chapter rings. The upper chapter ring indicates the seconds with Arabic numerals; in the recessed eye is an additional small dial for the time with Roman numerals, with the Brocot escapement visible above it. The lower chapter ring indicates the month and the solar time; the eye indicates the moon phase and the day and date on two further dials. Fine blued hands (second hand bent). Compensation pendulum. Half-hour strike on bell. Movement plate and movement double-numbered 8337 and 8338. 1 key.

Gilding rubbed. Marble with losses. Movement currently working, but may require revision.
