CLOCK WITH PLINTH,Louis XV, the dial and movement signed PIERRE BERNIER A PARIS (Pierre Bernier, maitre 1726), France circa 1740. Purpleheart veneer finely inlaid with lozenge pattern and diamond motifs. The shaped case with putto atop and scrolled feet. The clock with relief-decorated bronze dial and 24 enamel cartouches, and verge escapement striking the 1/2 hours on bell. Decorated with gilt bronze mounts and applications. 44x22x130 cm. Veilchenholz gefriest sowie ausserordentlich fein eingelegt mit Rautenmuster und Diamantspitz. Geschweiftes Uhrgehäuse mit Puttoaufsatz und Volutenfüssen auf sich nach unten verjüngendem Sockel. Reliefertes Bronzezifferblatt mit 24 Emailkartuschen für arabische Minuten- und römische Stundenzahlen. Spindelwerk mit 1/2-Stundenschlag auf Glocke. Vergoldete Bronzebeschläge und -applikationen in Form von Maskaronen, Frauenbüsten, Putti, Medaillons, Voluten und Kartuschen. 44x22x130 cm.
