APPENZELL CLOCK WITH WOODEN GEAR TRAIN AND ALARM
Ca. 1830.
Rectangular, closed wooden case, the dial architecturally carved, sculpted, and painted in polychrome and gold with rocaille and flowers. The dial features Roman hour markers and Arabic minute markers, as well as an alarm disc and trigger pin. The side walls are painted with views of a town in medallions. Wooden and brass gear train with verge escapement on front pendulum with sun-shaped lens. Hour strike on bell, alarm mechanism. Two iron weights. Later iron wall bracket.
