THE VIRGIN AND CHRIST CHILD ON THE CRESCENT MOON
Gothic, Lake Constance/Swabia, ca. 1460/70.
Carved lime, hollowed on verso, and painted. The Virgin Mary is standing in slight contraposto, carrying the Christ Child on her left arm.
H 103 cm.
The Christ Childs arm holding a book supplemented. The paintwork has been partially reworked, some losses. The crown is chipped, and the Virgin's attribute is incomplete. Crack on verso.
