Extremely rare etchings by Maria Anna, the second daughter of Maria Theresa and Francis Stephen of Lorraine. Her etchings of idyllic landscapes and still lifes, unjustly little regarded today, were produced in 1771 and 1772. That the Archduchess was nevertheless a respected artist is demonstrated by her admission as an honorary member of the Kupferstech-Akademie in Vienna, founded in 1767 (cf. Thieme-Becker XXIV, p. 91).

Conditionreport:
Excellent impressions. Isolated areas of foxing, paper somewhat browned, small creases and scratches, paper with areas of damage along the margins in places, isolated tears (not within the image). Each mounted on backing board.
