The earliest known faience from this manufactory, bearing the arms of the factory founder’s uncle. The decoration may have been painted by Adrien Joseph Dumortier, who came to Ancy-le-Franc from Tournai in 1765. The manufactory was founded in 1766 by the Marquis de Courtanvaux, Baron d’Ancy-le-Franc. With the rare salamander mark; no other faience examples from the Ancy-le-Franc manufactory bearing these arms are known (information provided by Jacques Bastian, August 2026).
