Zinoa Tajar (also called Sinoah Tagger), the first artist born in modern Israel, comes from one of the 60 founding families of the city of Tel Aviv. She studied during the 1920s at the Academy of Jerusalem as well as in Paris and belongs to the most significant Israeli artists of Modern Times. In her paintings she combines modernism and sophistication with the philosophy, warmth and optimism of old Israel. Loose brushstrokes, dynamic, vivid colours, Mediterranean light and local “Israeli style” are the characteristics of Tajar’s work and confirm her reputation as one of the most significant artists of the country.
