WEDDING COMMODE,

Baroque, Southern Germany, probably Franconia or Augsburg ca. 1730/40.
Walnut, various fruitwoods and tin, finely inlaid in fillets, bands, reserves, draperies depicting Virtues; wedding couple with symbols of Love and Faithfulness, elephant as a symbol of Chastity and Prudence, female figures as symbols of Faithfulness, Hope and Charity, and coats-of-arms. Curved body with 5 drawers. Bronze handles. Top inlaid later.
