Lot 1135 - A138 Furniture, Porcelain & Decoration - Wednesday, 20. September 2006, 10.00 AM

BUREAU-PLAT, Louis XV, stamped BVRB, The bronzes with "c couronné", Paris circa 1745/49. Highly important hitherto unknown bureau-plat by the most important royal cabinet maker of the mid 18th century, of perfect quality and elegance. The almost identical pair to this piece is today in the collection of the Cleveland Museum of Art (Inventory number. 44123). Provenance: Private Collection, West Switzerland.

Louis XV, sign. BVRB (Bernard II Van Risenburgh, Meister 1735), die Bronzen mit "c couronné" (eine Steuermarke, die zwischen 1745 und 1749 auf alle Kupfer enthaltenden Legierungen angebracht wurde), Paris um 1745/49.
Amarant, Rosen- und Satinholz gefriest sowie ausserordentlich fein eingelegt "en bois de bout"; Blumen, Blätter, Reserven und Zierfries. Geschweiftes, rechteckiges, mit grünem, goldgepresstem Leder bezogenes und in mehrfach profilierten Bronzestab gefasstes Blatt auf wellig ausgeschnittener Zarge in "contour à l'arbalète" mit geschweiften Beinen. Front mit breiter Zentralschublade und 2 seitlichen Schubladen. Gleiche, jedoch blinde Einteilung auf der Rückseite. Ausserordentlich feine, matt- und glanzvergoldete Bronzebeschläge, -sabots und -applikationen in Form von Kartuschen, Blättern, Blumen und Zierfries. 150x72x79 cm.
