TABRIZ PALACE CARPET ca. 1930.Copy of the "Holy Carpet of Ardebil" exhibited at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. Knot density ca. 550 000 knots per m2. (The same as the original). The blue central field has a white central medallion flanked by highly decorative lantern motifs. The corners are decorated with quarter medallions. The entire carpet is finely patterned with trailing flowers, palmettes and rosettes in harmonious colours. The blue and red main border is decorated with cartouches, the auxiliary borders are in white and red. The lower end of the carpet, as in the original, bears the cartouche with inscription of the master Maqsud 1540. In very good condition. 510x1020 cm.
