PARTISAN,

Polish, after 1719, for the Elilte Guard of King Augustus II. of Poland, Elector of Saxony.
The base of the blade carved as a double-headed eagle, the breast engraved with the Polish coat of arms. Above, a flaming sun, the center with a Latin cross, two crossed swords and a large royal crown. Coat of arms, sun and crown are gilt. Eight-edged socket with annular beads. Large, original tassel with mesh and fringes. Round shaft, tinted dark. Iron boot.

Rare and in good condition, with original gilding. The Polish Chevalier Guard was established in 1719 on the occasion of the election of August II the Strong as the King of Poland. Cf.
