AN OTTOMAN WALRUS IVORY-HILTED AND CORAL-SET SABRE (YATAGAN).

Turkey, 19th c. Length (blade) 64.5 cm, length (total) 82 cm.
Decoration extending to the forte, the blade with fullered back edge inscribed in gold overlay within cartouches, the red leather scabbard with mounts decorated in repoussé. Some inlays lost.
This object contains material of endangered species and is subject to certain trade restrictions. Prospective buyers should familiarize themselves with relevant customs regulations prior to bidding if they intend to import it into another country.
