AZIMUTH FOLDING SUN DIAL

Dieppe, probably 2nd half of the 17th century.
Ivory with black dyed engraving, brass hook and tin. With a compass in the base plate, with a circle around marked 5-12-7. The base of the compass is covered with an engraving with the altitudes of various towns. Above this the eliptical scale of an Azumuth sun dial with the hours of V-XII-VII. On the outside a pivoting tin disk with the days and months, and a square scale with the weekly calendar. The outside of the lid is engraving with a horizontal sun dial with the hours 8-4-12. The inside of the lid has a moon clock. Some cracks, the outer tin disk is blocked.
5.5x6.7x1 cm.
