The figure on offer is probably based on a figure in the Musée du Louvre, which was acquired from the Révoil Collection in 1828. The figure in the Louvre, just like an enthroned Madonna and Child in the Victoria & Albert Museum, London, and three figures of St. Catherine, are extremely true to style. They are attributed to a forger known as Agrafe Forger. Cf. Jaap Leeuwenberg: Early Nineteenth-Century Gothic Ivories. In: Aachener Kunstblätter, limited reproduction from Volume 39, Aachen 1969, p. 121, Ill. 20.
