Picart, 1 engraved plate with the depiction of a Janus temple and numerous engraved antique medaillons. Very nice contemporary light brown calf's leather with rich floral spine gilding and embossed ends as well as contemporary library label (minor rubbing, a few minute insignificant scratches). - Included insert: [Saint-Prest, Jean-Yves de]. 2 volumes. Amsterdam, Bernard and Den Haag, Vaillant et Prevost, 1725. Folio title in red and black with 2 engraved title vignettes. Light brown contemporary calf's leather with floral spine gilding and embossed Stehkanten (minor rubbing, some insignificant worming, minor tearing on spine of volume 1). Brunet II, 880 f. Rothschild, Catalog of books III, 339 ff. - Very rare first edition of the most important work on jurisprudence and political science from the time of Louis V. - Occasional slight browning and foxing, otherwise extraordinary well preserved complete specimen in classic and very representative French one-volume edition of the first half of the 18th century.
