SKELETON CLOCK WITH MOON PHASE AND CALENDAR,

Louis XVI, the dial signed RIDEL A PARIS (probably Laurent Ridel, active from ca. 1770), Paris ca. 1785/90.
Gilt bronze, white marble and painted enamel. The front with large enamel chapter ring with the hours and minutes as well as the date in Arabic numerals; below, 2 smaller enamel rings with names of the month in French and the signs of the zodiac, and with days of the week in French and planetary symbols; above, a finely painted window with the moon phase. Fine movement with anchor escapement, striking the ½-hour on bell. Magnificent sun pendulum. Gilt mounts and applications.
