BELT ORNAMENT - former Kofler-Truniger collection

Probably Lombard, 7th/8th century AD.
Gold chased with applied gold filigree wires and granulation decoration. Rectangular base shape.
L 5.2 cm, H 3.1 cm. Total weight 13.6 g.
Slightly bent, dented, and scuffed.

Provenance:
- Auction Dr. Jacob Hirsch Lucerne, December 7, 1957, lot 113 (illustrated).
- Collection Ernst and Marthe Kofler-Truniger (1903–1990 & 1918–1999), Lucerne (inv. no. K723S), acquired at the above auction.
- Swiss private collection, Lucerne, acquired from the above in ca. 1974.
- By inheritance in the same Swiss family collection, Lucerne.
