A PAIR OF EARRINGS - former Kofler-Truniger collection

Roman, ca. 1st–2nd century AD.
Gold with a curved shield with gold granulation on the edge and a gold bead pendant.
L 3 cm. Total weight ca. 2.3 g.
Some dents and signs of use.

Provenance:
- Former collections of Ludwig Marx, Mainz, and Albert Sieck, Munich.
- Auction Dr. F. X. Weizinger & Co., Munich, October 28–31, 1918, lot 988, Ill. 34.
- Theodor Fischer, Lucerne (acquired December 1, 1950, according to index card).
- Collection Ernst and Marthe Kofler-Truniger (1903–1990 & 1918–1999), Lucerne (inv. no. K738), acquired from the above.
- Swiss private collection, Lucerne, acquired from the above in ca. 1974.
- By inheritance in the same Swiss family collection, Lucerne.
