GRISAILLE MINIATURE GOLD BOX, Paris ca. 1780. Yellow and pink gold. Octagonal box, decorated all around with "à cage"-set miniatures "en Grisaille" on a blue background, in the fashion of De Gault. Border with leaf decor, garlands and Ionic pillars. Fine miniature scenes from the Dionysus myth all around. On the cover, the triumph of Bacchus and Ariadne modelled on Annibale Carracci (1560-1609). Maker's mark René-Jean Lemoyne, Charge Jean Baptiste Fouache, Décharge. 8.3 x 4.4 x 3.2 cm. Oktogonale Dose, allseitig verziert mit "à Cage" gefassten Miniaturen "en Grisaille" auf blauem Grund, in der Art von De Gault. Bordüre mit Blattdekor, Girlanden und ionischen Säulen. Allseitig feine Miniaturszenen aus dem Dionysos-Mythos. Auf dem Deckel der Triumph von Bacchus und Ariadne nach dem Vorbild von Annibale Carracci (1560-1609). Meistermarke René-Jean Lemoyne, Charge Jean Baptiste Fouache, Decharge. 8,3 x 4,4 x 3,2 cm.
