Within the scope of his project to paint important harbours, Paul Signac travelled to Constantinople in the spring of 1907. Ten important paintings were created of the bay of the city, known as the "Golden Horn", with views of the activity of the harbour ships and the domes and minarets of the Süleymanie Mosque in the background. These beautiful and typical watercolours show his interest in this perspective very well.
