TOPAZ AND GOLD PARURE, ca. 1820.
Yellow and pink gold and silver, total weight 138g.
A parure comprising a tiara, a necklace, ear pendants, a pair of bracelets and a brooch. The tiara of a finely chiselled frame with flower- and leaf motifs, above a row of volute ornaments and 15 larger resp. 14 smaller, oval, yellow-orange topazes. Detachable comb in silver, gold-plated. Corresponding necklace, set with 32 oval, graduated topazes. L ca. 42,5 cm. Matching ear pendants, each set with 1 oval, resp. 1 pear-shaped topaz. L ca. 3,5 cm. A pair of bracelets, each designed as 4 chains, 2 floral, open work elements and centering upon 1 oval topaz. L ca. 18 cm. Assorted brooch with 2 cushion-shaped topazes and 1 round citrine, set in a gold frame with volute motifs, originally probably a belt buckle, the citrine probably later replaced. L ca. 5,4 cm. French import marks.
With original velvet and silk fitted case, the cover with crowned monogram of an earl "R.S."
