LONGCASE CLOCK WITH CHIME AND DATE
William and Mary, England, ca. 1695. The dial signed Dan. Quare London (Daniel Quare, watchmaker from 1671).
Walnut, boxwood and other in part tinted and ebonized woods finely inlaid in fillets and decorated with flowers, vases and birds. Rectangular case, the top decorated with three gilt vases. Engraved, gilt brass dial with silvered chapter ring, the corners applied with pierced vines and women's faces. In the upper corners: two subdials for setting the striking mechanism and the accuracy. Small chapter ring for the seconds. Date window. Movement with anchor escapement and quarter hour strike on bell and chime on six bells. Brass weights. 2 keys.
