SMALL PAINTED GABLED COFFER, Baroque, Mainz circa 1600. Wood painted on all sides with bright flowers and leaves on red ground, with gable-shaped lid. Fine iron bands and iron handles. Inscribed verso "Charlotta Dorsia" (?). 17x10x11 cm. Provenance: Private collection, Basel

Barock, Mainz um 1600.
Holz allseitig bemalt; auf rotem Fond bunte Blumen und Blätter. Rechteckiger Korpus mit leicht vorstehendem Giebeldeckel und feinen Eisenzierbändern. Eisentraggriffe. Verso bez. "Charlotta Dorsia" (?). 17x10x11 cm.


Provenienz: Privatsammlung, Basel. Eine nahezu identische Giebeltruhe ist abgebildet in: E. Berger, Prunk-Kassetten, Graz 1998; S. 29 (Abb. 88).
