SMALL CABINET,known as a "meuble d'appui", Transition, attributed to C. TOPINO (Charles Topino, maitre 1773), Paris circa 1760. Tulipwood, rosewood and various precious woods in veneer with fine inlays. The front with large central door with slatted closure between 2 drawers under a writing surface lined wine-red leather. Fitted interior with 6 drawers in 3 rows, the top drawers forming 1 large drawer, under 2 adjacent compartments. Rich, gilt and replaced bronze mounts and sabots. "Carrara" top edged with a pierced bronze rail. Freestanding. 62x50x103 cm.
