TABLE "A PUPITRE",Louis XVI, probably by A.L. GILBERT (Andre Louis Gilbert, maitre1774), Paris circa 1770. Tulipwood, rosewood, various precious woods and bone, exceptionally finely inlaid on all sides and partly dyed. Three-part top edged in bronze, the middle section hinged and adjustable, 1 side hinged, opening to 1 compartment with hinged cover. The front with leather-lined, pull-out shelf above drawer, flanked by 1 small and 1 dummy drawer. Bronze mounts and sabots. Freestanding. 78x48x77 cm.
