ROUND HANUMAN PLAQUE. Indian, 19th/20th c. D 17.6 cm. Bronze. The powerfully-built ape king holds a large lotus bud in his right hand and strides vigorously in an openwork roundel. He is sheltered by a canopy consisting of five snakes. Beneath him lies a small demon.

Bronze. Der kräftig gebaute Affenkönig hält in der Rechten eine grosse Lotosknospe und schreitet eilig in einem durchbrochenen Kranz voran. Überdacht wird er von einem Baldachin, der aus fünf Schlangen besteht. Unter ihm liegt ein kleiner Dämon.
