"TOWER" CLOCK WITH ALARM,

Renaissance, Augsburg, ca. 1630. The movement signed MARTIN ZOLLER (Martin Zoller, 1590-1633).
Iron, bronze and brass, gilt. Stepped case with pierced bell cage. Silver-plated dials on two sides. The front with a dial for the hours with an alarm dial in the center, over a dial for the 1/4-hours. Verso with dial for the striking mechanism. Small front pendulum. Movement later converted to verge escapement and front pendulum. Striking mechanism striking the 1/4-hour on bell, as well as alarm.
