LACQUER LADY'S DESK, Louis XV, sign. J. DUBOIS (Jacques Dubois, maitre 1742), Paris circa 1760. Wood, lacquered on all sides in "goût japonais" with pagoda and park figural scenes and exotic birds on black ground. The desk with fall front writing surface lined with black leather, the fitted interior inlaid with purpleheart, with drawers, large compartment and secret compartment. Exceptionally fine matte and polished gilt bronze mounts and sabots. Freestanding. 74x50x(open 88)x91 cm. Provenance: from a very important private collection, Switzerland.
