PAIR OF PORTE-TORCHERES "AUX TETES DE BELIER", Louis XVI, after designs by G.B. PIRANESI (Giovanni Battista Piranesi, 1720-1778), Rome circa 1800. Exceptionally finely carved gilt wood. Round "Lumachella Grigia" top. Some losses, some restoration required. H 137 cm. Provenance: from a highly important European private collection.

Louis XVI, nach Vorlagen von G.B. PIRANESI (Giovanni Battista Piranesi, 1720-1778), Rom um 1800.
Holz ausserordentlich fein beschnitzt mit Widderköpfen und -hufen, Schlangen, Trauben, Ranken und Zierfries sowie vergoldet. Runde, randgefasste "Lumachella Grigia"-Platte auf gerader Zarge mit 3 von Schlangen umschlungenen Widderstützen auf Dreisockel mit gequetschten Kugelfüssen. Fehlstellen, etwas zu überholen. H 137 cm.
