A GILT COPPER REPOUSSÉ FIGURE OF MANJUSHRI. Tibeto-chinese, 18th c. Height 36 cm.

Tibetochinesisch, 18. Jh. H 36 cm.
Feuervergoldetes Kupfer mit Korallen und Türkiseinlagen, teilweise farbig gefasst. Repoussé. Der prächtig geschmückte Bodhisattva der Weisheit sitzt auf einem hohen doppelten Lotosthron und schwingt sein Schwert, um damit die Wurzel der Unwissenheit zu durchtrennen. Die linke Hand hält eine Blume, deren Blüte das Buch der Weisheit, das Prajnaparamita-Sutra trägt. Der Gesichtsausdruck ist sanft und freundlich.
