CABINET ON A STAND,
early Baroque/Louis XIII, France, ca. 1640.
Ebony, finely carved with depictions of the Birth of Christ and the Three Magi, leaves and decorative frieze. Rectangular body, on a later base. The front with two doors, opening up into an architecturally structured interior with central double–doors surrounded by 14 drawers of different sizes. Finely inlaid interior with central niche and 2 drawers, and 4 secret drawers on each side . Restorations and alterations. 185x63x191 cm.
