A BRONZE FIGURE OF THE SEATED AMITAYUS. Tibeto-chinese, 19th c. Height 16.7 cm. Traces of cold gilding and painting.

Braun patinierte Bronze mit Resten von kalter Vergoldung und farbiger Fassung. Amitayus mit freundlichem Gesichtsausdruck sitzt in der Padmasana auf einem doppelreihigen Lotosthron. In seinen im Schoss gefalteten Händen befand sich ursprünglich das Lebenswassergefäss. Die hohe Ushnisha wird von einem geflammten Juwel bekrönt, wehende Schals fallen über Schultern und Arme bis zum Thron herunter.
