IMPORTANT CLOCK WITH BOULLE MARQUETRY and plinth, Regence, the case by A.C. BOULLE (Andre Charles Boulle, 1642-1732), the design drawing for the plinth by G.M. OPPENORDT (Gilles Marie Oppenordt, 1672-1742), the front and the movement signed THURET A PARIS (Jacques III Thuret, 1669-1738), circa 1720/25. Matte and polished gilt bronze and ebonized wood inlaid with brown tortoiseshell and brass. Relief-decorated gilt dial with engraved Arabic minutes and 13 enamel plaques, 12 with blue Roman hour numerals. 2 blued hands. The clock glass with enamel cartouche for the signature in blue. Fine movement striking the 1/2 hours on bell. Rich gilt mounts and applications. Some restoration required, enamel with fine hair-line cracks and small chips. Some losses in the marquetry. Restorations. 38x17x108 cm. Provenance: - Collection of Duc X., France. - Sotheby's Paris auction, 18.6.2002 (Lot No. 35). - From a European private collection. With expertise by J.D.
