A LARGE BRONZE FIGURE OF THE SEATED GUANYIN WITH INSCRIPTION.

China, early Ming dynasty, height 66 cm.
Remains of polychrome lacquer painting. Inscription: "Xin shi di zi ... nian xiang zhu zao" (Cast by the humble disciple ...). Old repairs.

Provenance: Belgian private collection, purchased in Brittany 1963. From the collection of the great adventurer René Madec (1736-1784) who fought for the Moghol empire and returned to France with many treasures from Asia.
