Fine cracks.

The figure is a reference to the French madonnas of the 14th century, in which the caring relationship between Mother and Child is high-lighted. Cf. Hermann Schnitzler, Fritz Volbach, Peter Bloch: Skulpturen. Collection E. und M. Kofler-Truninger, Lucerne, Vol. 1, p. 43, with an illustration of the Enthroned Mother of God, formerly from the Collection J. Stein in Paris.
