FIVE ITEMS FROM A SERVICE WITH SCENES FROM THE FABLES OF LA FONTAINE,

Meissen, ca. 1775. Painted after graphic designs by Jean de La Fontaine (1621–1695).
Comprising: 1 round platter and 4 oval platters, each with an animal scene in the mirror, the back titled in purple: "Le Taureau et le Veau, Le Loup et le Chien, Le Lion amoureux à Mademoiselle de Sevigné, Le Serpent, Le Renard et l'Herisson, L'Ours et le Lion", respectively. Underglaze blue sword marks with star.
D 43 cm. L 33.5 and 38.5 cm.
