FEMALE DEITY.Khmer, in the style of Angkor Vat, 12th century. H 72 cm. Sandstone. Classic depiction with a well-formed upper body and a skirt with pleated vertical folds, which is held together by a patterned belt. On the front: the collar trails beneath the belt, the overlap ends in a point shaped like a fish-tail. An engraved crown adorns the plaited hair-do. Gentle and friendly facial expression. Head attached.
