IMPORTANT VASE "AUX GRIFFONS", Empire, from a Paris master workshop, circa 1810. Matte and polished gilt bronze and burnished bronze. Exceptionally finely gilt mounts and applications. H 107 cm. Provenance: - Traditionally considered to be a former gift from the Emperor Napoleon to a General of his troops. -Galerie Segoura, Paris. - From a private collection, Monte Carlo.

Empire, aus einer Pariser Meisterwerkstatt, um 1810.
Bronze matt- und glanzvergoldet bzw. brüniert. Zylindrischer Vasenkörper mit eingezogenem Hals, ausladender Lippe und markanten Henkeln, auf Rundfuss mit Girlanden und palmettenbeschmücktem Quadersockel. Ausserordentlich feine, matt- und glanzvergoldete Bronzebeschläge und -applikationen in Form von Prunkhelm, "fasces", Reliefbüste eines römischen Kriegers, Pfeilköchern, Palmetten, Girlanden und Zierfries. H 107 cm.
