A COPPER ALLOY FIGURE OF BUDDHA SHAKYAMUNI WITH REMAINS OF GILT. Tibet, 16th c. Height 13.2 cm.

Kupferlegierung mit Resten von Vergoldung. Der historische Buddha sitzt auf einem beinahe kreisrunden Lotosthron, die Rechte berührt die Erde, die Linke in dhyanamudra leicht auf einen Fuss abgestützt. Eine breite Bordüre mit gravierten Blümchen fasst das Gewand ein. Der Lotossockel ist rundherum ausgearbeitet.
