BOULLE CLOCK ON BASE,
Louis XIV, France, 18th century. The dial signed FONCK À BERNE.
Rectangular, slightly rounded wooden case, decorated with brown tortoiseshell and inlaid with engraved brass tendrils and fillets. Opulent bronze mounts, the top with a figure of Zeus. Bronze dial with white enamel plaques. Movement with verge escapement, striking the 1/4-hour on 3 bells. Repetition on demand. Later hands.
