RARE, PAINTED CUPBOARD,

Conrad Starck (1769-1817), Appenzell, 18th century. Inscribed DIESER SCHRANK GEHÖRT DER JUNGFRAU ANNA MARIA ELISABETHA MOSSERIN 1795.
Pinewood, opulently painted with rocailles and flower vases on a blue ground, and carved with angel heads, leaves and flaming hearts. Baroque body, base with 2 drawers. Front with 2 doors and 3 pillars. The cornice features a rotatable secret compartment with 2 drawers (incomplete). Later brass mounts. Some retouching, but paintwork substantially original. Later varnish. Some rubbing. 2 keys.

A BRONZE FIGURE OF YAMANTAKA WITH BULL’S HEADINLAID WITH TURQUOISE AND CORAL. Tibeto-chinese, 20th c. Height 38 cm. Attributes are lost except for those of the primary hands. Stone inlays partly lost.

Tibetochinesisch, 20. Jh. H 38 cm.
Bronze. Die zornvolle Gottheit mit 34 Armen und 14 Beinen ist mit seiner Partnerin vereinigt. Sein Stiergesicht ist umrahmt von weiteren sechs menschlichen Gesichtern und überragt von einem Dämonenhaupt und dem Kopf von Amithaba. Er steht auf einem Sockel mit 14 Tieren, die auf sechs liegenden Figuren stehen. Die Attribute sind bis auf diejenigen der Haupthände verloren. Türkis und Koralleneinlagen zum Teil verloren.

Holz, Silber und Metalllegierungen, Glas, Textilien. Die Grundutensilien für den Opiumkonsum bestehen neben der Pfeife aus Pfeifenaufsatz, Lampe, Nadel und Ausschaber für den Pfeifenaufsatz. Diese werden in diesem Konvolut ergänzt durch 2 Scherchen, 2 Behälter für den Pfeifenaufsatz, 2 trommelförmige Behälter, 2 quadratische Schälchen, 3 Teekännchen, 1 winkelförmige Dose, 2 Nadelhalter und einen Abakus. Eine Besonderheit stellen die beiden Reisesets (1 unvollständig) dar, die den Gang in eine lokale Opiumhöhle auf Reisen unnötig machten. Holz verzogen.

Nadelholz bemalt mit Blumen, Vögeln, Früchtekorb, Blumenhorn und junger Frau in ovalem Medaillon auf blauem Grund. Rechteckiger Korpus mit geradem vorkragendem Kranz auf gerader Zarge. Front mit Türe. Messingschlüsselschild (beschädigt). 107x44x184 cm. Schloss ausgebaut. Tablare teils später.
