A FINE JAMAWAR-SHAWL (DOCHALLA).

India, Kashmir, 1st half of 19th c. 268x135 cm.
Cream-ground with woven patterns in subdued hues of red, blue and green, consisting of palla with eight large boteh, densely patterned hashiya and a jamawar field. Lining on the back, minor damages and restorations.


Provenance: Old Swiss private collection, acquired in the mid 1970s in Delhi (no documents available).
