RARE EMPIRE CUP AND SAUCER, Paris, Chanou, Rue de Reuilly, circa 1784-85. The front of the cup painted with a group of musicians. Each piece with a continuous seascape with ships and harbour. Gilt interior. The saucer with gilt rosette motif in centre. Mark Ch in gold. Provenance: private collection, Zürich.
Provenienz: Privatbesitz, Zürich. Gegründet von einem Sèvres Mitarbeiter, Henri Florentin Chanou, bestand diese Manufaktur in Paris nur eine kurze Weile zwischen Mai 1784 und April 1785. Eine entsprechend kleine Produktion ist aus dieser Zeit bekannt. Nach dem Scheitern seines Alleingangs wurde Chanou als Skulpteur wieder in der Königlichen Manufaktur Sèvres reintegriert.
